Cymetra - Allentown, PA

Has the beauty of your smile been diminished by tiny vertical lines that cause your lipstick to bleed? Or, has the graceful curve of Cupid's Bow on your upper lip begun to flatten out? These are just two signs of aging that affect many of our patients today. Thanks to a simple, in-office procedure, we can reverse these aging signs, as well as deep wrinkles and acne scars. Now, Cymetra™ treatments are performed by our doctor for patients in our region to restore your beautiful smile with a natural implant material. What is Cymetra?Cymetra is a dermal implant material made from decellularized human donor tissue. It is strictly regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as is any other donated human tissue material indicated for transplantation to repair or replace damaged or inadequate dermal tissue. This includes kidneys, hearts, corneas, bone and other tissues generously donated by individuals or their families. How does Cymetra work?Cymetra contains no cells that can cause rejection or inflammation the way bovine collagen sometimes does. All that remains is a collagen framework that provides strength to the skin.Once the Cymetra implant material is in place, it gradually becomes a natural part of your body. Cymetra actually repopulates the treated area with your own cells, creating new tissue, to produce longer lasting results and a more youthful appearance. Is Cymetra safe?Yes. Cymetra is a form of AlloDerm?, which has been used safely for over 7 years, in over 50,000 grafts. The U.S. Tissue Bank rigorously screens all tissue donors' medical records, cause of death and social history. Blood samples are meticulously tested and certified using standards set and licensed by the FDA. All donors must be found negative for Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C and free from HIV Types 1 and 2. In addition, all Cymetra implants are examined by microscope before and after processing to rule out pathologic contamination and ensure consistent quality. How is Cymetra used?Cymetra is used for soft tissue replacement and augmentation. The primary areas treated with Cymetra include the lips, nasolabial folds, deep wrinkles and fine lines, as well as acne and depressed scars. Some benefits of Cymetra are:Cymetra is capable of regenerating normal tissue.Cymetra is human tissue; it cannot provoke any inflammatory response or allergic reaction.Cymetra is soft and pliable with a natural feel. There is no need to harvest tissue from another site on your body. Results are fast and longer lasting than collagen. How many Cymetra treatments will I need?Several injections may be required, depending on the depth and length of the wrinkle. The procedure usually takes less than 20 minutes of your time. The results are immediate. You can determine at first glance if you are happy with the results or if you would like more Cymetra injected in the treated areas. Touch-up treatments may be required over time. What can I expect after my treatment with Cymetra? After our physician performs Cymetra treatments for the lips and nasal labial fold areas, patients are up and around immediately. Discomfort is minimal. Any discomfort following the procedure can be controlled with medication. The treatment site may have a little swelling, which may last a few hours. There may be some slight bruising at the injection site, which can be covered with make-up. Depending on the area treated, your correction may last for years. Some collagen absorption may make touch-up treatments necessary. Allergic reactions are rare, but may consist of prolonged redness, itching, and/or firmness at the injection site.
